Plein Air Paintings

On Wednesday Mornings if it is a nice day, I skip the drawing table.
Instead I gather my painting supplies, make some coffee to go and walk down to the Portland's Wednesday Farmers Market. At the market I do some very important things. I buy a pastry for breakfast, say hello to all the venders I have gotten to know and set up shop for the rest of the morning into afternoon doing Plein Air paintings.

Here are some of the finished paintings, there are more to come!

Peacocks Commission

Few months ago I was hired to do a wedding commission. The couple's theme was peacocks, due to the bride growing up on the family's peacock farm. Congrats to the lovely couple.
Here is the process of the piece.

Portland Wednesday Market Painting

Been going around town this summer painting the local scenes.
It has been fun to get away from desk painting to plein air painting.
This painting is of the Peach Stand at Portland's Wednesday Market.

The Matt who works the Peach Stand, was really excited about being in the painting!

Drink & Draw Night

Had a little adventure, drink & draw night with my friend Anne.
We walked down by the river.

Where we planted our selves and had a little picnic.
No Starving Artists Here!

Wondering whats in my painting travel bag?
Gauche, 4 Brushes, Palette Knife, S & XS Faber-Castell Ink Pens, Rubber Eraser, Pen Eraser, Pencil Sharpener, 2B & B Pencil with Pencil Extender, Sketchbook, 12 sheets of 3"x2.5" Bristle Paper, 8x11 Board, Artists Tape, Water Dish and a Big Bag to carry it all!
I'm armed with a book too, this time its "On Writing" by Steven King

It was a gorgeous evening for painting the Ross Island Bridge

Afterwards we packed up back to Anne's house where I meet her chickens
Martha and Louise

After dinner Anne & her Husband Yo showed me their art, personal and collection.
So many Buddha's, so much peace.
Until all of the fireworks started to go off!

It was so nice to have a relaxing evening filled with friends,
drinking wine, drawing and conversing about art.

Put up your Dukes!

Visited my friend Andy Morrissey at his studio and noticed that he had beautiful tattoo art hanging on the wall. But he had no Bunny Art!
Well that had to change, so I made a tough guy bunny for his studio walls!
